Why Worry about Wellness at Work? Expert panel discussion.

Why Worry about Wellness at Work? Expert panel discussion.

Wellness at work programmes are not just for big business. They are accessible and of benefit to business of all types and can make a difference to both your staff and your bottom line.

This seminar brings together 4 experts to give you a broad overview of the different facets of a wellness programme, how they can make a difference to your workplace and tips for implementation. We will also introduce you to the workplace wellness challenge that builds on the information presented in this seminar.

Physical Health and Nutrition

Being physically active can improve health and morale and increase productivity at work. We know that movement and good eating habits positively impact worker energy, engagement, and focus. Spreading it throughout the day improves mood, decreases feelings of fatigue, and affects appetite. Not to mention, it can boost creative brainstorming, which is an essential ingredient of innovation.

In addition to positively impacting daily life, physical activity can help prevent the development of many chronic diseases, which are a huge cost to business. Habits are hard to break and we often revert back to them during times of stress. Learn about some simple things you can do in your workplace to promote better phsyical health and nutrition and build resilience both for your staff and yourself.
Presented by Alex Robbins, F45 Training Caloundra

Mental Health at Work

Mental Health in the workplace is a critical issue. With as many as 1 in 6 Australians experiencing a mental illness, the cost is huge, not only to individuals and those closest to them but also to businesses. Ensure your employees feel mentally supported, safe and valued.

The benefits include increased performance, morale and engagement and decreased absenteeism, presenteeism, compensation claims and staff turnover.

Business owners also fail to look after their own wellbeing - get some tips on managing stress and burn-out, building resilience and self care

Presented by Greg Kentish, Acacia Connections

Financial Health

The 2018 Employee Financial Wellness Survey conducted by PwC, found that more than half of employees are stressed about their financial health. When asked what causes them the most stress in their lives, nearly twice as many say financial matters as opposed to job stress.

Being distracted by personal financial issues results in lower productivity when they are at work. In fact, it is estimated to be costing business around $47 billion/year. We have a critical gap in our education system where we don't learn about managing our finances.

Learn about how simple it is to incorporate financial wellness as a key benefit for your staff.

Presented by Conrad Voss, Stream Financial

Domestic Violence
A survey of domestic violence data in Australia revealed that 1 in 3 women and 1 in 5 men have experienced at least one incident of violence from a current or former partner since the age of 15. Between 2014 and 2015 2,800 women and 560 men were hospitalised after being assaulted by a spouse or partner.
The Fair Work Act now includes an entitlement to unpaid family and domestic violence leave as part of the National Employment Standards (NES). All employees are entitled to unpaid leave to deal with family and domestic violence. Pippa Colman will share what employers can do to help employees who are victims of domestic violence.
