The Business of the Games: legacy building and inclusion

The Business of the Games: legacy building and inclusion

Join Maroochydore Chamber of Commerce and Kawana Chamber of Commerce for a special breakfast event on Tuesday 25th October at Maroochy Surf Club.

With Queensland set yo host the Olympic and Paralympic Game sin 2032, at this event we will be exploring what this means for business on the Sunshine Coast.

To help guide us through the topic of 'The Business of the Games: legacy building and inclusion' we have invited guest speakers Mayor Mark Jamieson from Sunshine Coast Council, Roz White the Chair of Sunshine Coast 2032 and Simone Pearce the Chair of Sunshine Coast Sports.

As the Mayor of Sunshine Coast Council, Mayor Mark Jamieson has been an integral person in bringing the 2032 Games to our region and the Sunshine Coast will play a key role in the delivery of the Games in the region. Although the Brisbane 2032 Games are still 10-years away, planning is well and truly underway. The Sunshine Coast will host a number of events and an athlete village - some events to be held in new and expanded facilities and others that will require temporary infrastructure. Mayor Jamieson will share the current plans and his vision for legacy that can be created by being a key delivery partner in the world's biggest event.

Like Mayor Mark Jamieson, Roz White, as the Chair of Sunshine Coast 2032 will also play a key role in taking the community on the journey towards 2032. Sunshine Coast 2032 was established to ensure the Sunshine Coast and Noose region maximises opportunities in the lead up to, during and after the Games.

Sunshine Coast Sports was founded in 1968 and since has played an important and valued role in supporting grass roots sports and celebrating the achievements of local athletes on the world stage. As a volunteer governed bod, the 2032 Games will play a great role in supporting their cause, bound to encourage and inspire many young Sunshine Coast residents to get involved in sports from the grass roots level. Chair Simone Pearce will share how business can play a role in supporting our young athletes and what she hopes to see happen over the next 10 years and beyond.

As anticipation builds in the lead up to 2032 join us at our 'The Business of the Games: legacy building and inclusion' breakfast and hear from our impressive panel of speakers on:

  • The infrastructure legacy
  • Preparing your business potential procurement opportunities
  • The vision of Sunshine Coast Legacy Plan Community Reference Group and Sunshine Coast 2032 - "working together for an impactful 10 years"
  • How business can get involved from grass roots sports to preparing the Coast for greatness
